The Matchup
We have a South Florida showdown between the defending Class 6A state champion West Boca Bulls, and the West Broward Bobcats at FIU’s Pitbull Stadium in Miami. The game is set to kickoff at 12:30 PM. Both teams are coming off huge wins, with West Broward stunning No. 1 seed Bucholz 24-17, and West Boca winning on a missed field goal to defeat No. 2 seed Armwood, 14-13.
West Broward
For the first time in their school history, the Bobcats will be playing in a State Title game. A huge milestone for the Program and head coach Brian McCartney, who has really built this program from the ground up. Players such as ATH Amir Sears, Dual-Threat quarterback Brandin Mincy, explosive running back Daquon Adderley, and key defensive playmaker Shmar Akande are set to make a huge impact on this matchup. The Bobcats started the season 0-2, with losses to 2 powerhouse schools in Corner Canyon (UT), and Camden County (GA), but ever since, West Broward has won 12 in a row, looking for 13 in the biggest game in their schools history tomorrow afternoon.
West Boca
After defeating Osceola 26-7 in 2024 to bring home a state title, West Boca has made their way back to Miami looking for back to back titles. Led by Coach Dylan Potts, the Bulls have solidified themselves as a perennial powerhouse, featuring standout players like running back Javian Mallory (University of Miami commit), defensive back Jaydin Broadnax (Louisville commit), ATH Tayegan Briskey (Air Force Commit), defensive tackle Jamar Thompson, and a dual QB system in Trey Moran and Omari McNeal. Last year, the Bulls were without their standout running back Javian Mallory. This year, he is ready for his first state game and is ready to make a big impact on this one.
Conclusion
This game is one of the most intriguing matchups out of all the FHSAA state championship games. 2 teams that have built their program from the ground up, commits on both sides of the ball for both teams, great offensive and defensive play, and 2 great coaching staffs. Ladies and gentleman, we should be in for a good one. The game will be streaming on the NFHS network, so I advise you to tune in.
